A' Choille The Forest

A' Choille The Forest

Chan fhaca mi riamh
dad cho brèagha is àlainn -
na flùraichean, na craobhan, agus an abhainn:
tha dathan nam flùraichean cho soilleir -
purpaidh, dearg, gorm is uaine.

Na craobhan àrd' is làidir,
cho sean, dìreach nan seasamh an-sin,
geugan a' gluasad anns a' ghaoith,
duilleagan nan geugan a' siosarnaich.

Tha a' choille làn bheathaichean:
rabaidean a' leumadaich tron fheur,
eòin a' cadal shuas sna craobhan,
feòragan a' coimhead airson chnòthan,
fèidh ag òl uisge bhon abhainn.

Chan eil dad cho brèagha,
ri flùraichean, craobhan, agus a' ghrian.
Tha mi an dòchas nach tachair sian
dhan choille as àlainn air an t-saoghal.

I have never seen
anything so beautiful, so lovely –
the flowers, the trees, and the river:
the colours of the flowers are so bright –
purple, red, blue and green.

The trees, tall and mighty,
so ancient, just standing there,
their branches swaying in the breeze,
leaves on the branches whispering.

The forest is full of animals:
rabbits jumping through the grass,
birds asleep high up in the trees,
squirrels searching for nuts,
deer drinking from the river.

There is nothing so beautiful
as flowers, trees, and the sun
I hope no harm ever comes to
the loveliest forest in the world.
